Swedish vs Deep Tissue vs Thai Massage: Which One Should You Book?
Three of the most-booked massages in Chandigarh, compared — pressure, oil, who each one suits, and what to expect afterwards.
These are the three massages people ask us about most at our spa in Chandigarh. They feel very different, so picking the right one makes a big difference to how you walk out.
Swedish massage — the classic for stress
Pressure: light to medium. Oil: yes. Price at our Sector 26 spa: ₹1,799 for 60 minutes.
Long, flowing strokes over the whole body. It is the best choice if you are new to massage, if you are mainly stressed rather than in pain, or if you have trouble sleeping. Most people feel calm and slightly sleepy afterwards.
Book it if: it is your first massage, you want to switch off, or you want a full body massage that is relaxing rather than intense.
Deep tissue massage — for knots and desk posture
Pressure: firm. Oil: yes. Price: ₹2,199 for 60 minutes.
Slower strokes and focused pressure on tight areas — usually the neck, shoulders, upper back and lower back. This is the one for people who sit at a laptop all day, drive long distances on the Tricity roads, or train at the gym.
It can feel intense on stubborn knots, and you may feel a little sore the next day, like after exercise. Always tell the therapist if the pressure is too much.
Book it if: you have a specific stiff area, or lighter massages "don't do anything" for you.
Thai massage — stretching without oil
Pressure: medium to firm. Oil: no — you stay in loose, comfortable clothes. Price: ₹1,999 for 60 minutes.
Thai massage combines pressure along the body with assisted stretches. It feels active, a bit like someone doing yoga for you. People often come out feeling lighter and more mobile rather than sleepy.
Book it if: you feel stiff and inflexible, or you would rather not have oil.
Quick comparison
- Most relaxing: Swedish
- Best for back and neck pain: Deep tissue
